About
My name is Mike Martin and I am a 17 year old motocross racer, cyclist, and student from Northeastern Connecticut. I am going into my senior year of High School, and would like to major in Biochem, and ultimately pursue a career in Pharmaceutical Research.
Motocross is More Than a Sport
I have been riding motocross since the age of 10, and have greatly enjoyed the time spent riding, practicing and racing throughout New England. I have met many friends through the sport and would not trade my time spent at the motocross track for anything.
I have never been the fastest rider, but over the past 7 years I have continued to steadily progress in my riding. I currently race the 125 Amateur and Youth Amateur classes on a 2008 Kawasaki KX250f owned by Jordan Mercier.
My motocross racing would not be possible without the help of my sponsors, I am extremely thankful for their support.
I Enjoy Riding Bicycles
Throughout my younger childhood, I was always a chubby kid. I will never know if it was a result of poor eating habits, lack of exercise, or a mixture of the two. However, in the spring of 2008, I decided to start exercising in order to get in better shape, not only to help my performance on the motocrosss track, but to improve my health as a whole.
I began to riding road bikes in order to loose wait, but quickly grew obsessed with the feel of the open road. My riding progressed as I moved up from a hybrid bike, to an older steel road bike and ultimately to a 2008 Fuji Newest 1.0, which I am looking to upgrade this summer.
I have never raced road bikes, but it is definitely something I am interested in trying in the future, and would like to join a collegiate team when I eventually go to college.
Throughout the summer, I try to ride about 200 miles a week, throughout Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. I try to get at least one ride a week in with the Thread City Cyclers, a cycling club out of Mansfield, Connecticut.
This is My Weblog
If you’ve made it this far, you’ve probably realized that MikeMartinRacing.com is the home of my personal weblog. I started the site as a way to document my motocross racing.
Over the years, it has grow to a full blow WordPress-powered website. It showcases news, reviews and opinions on the motocross and cycling industries, written almost exclusively by yours truly. I may not be able to update as frequently as some of the larger motocross and cycling news sites, but I try to offer a unique perspective on the industries.
