December 16th, 2008 • Motocross Tips
The holiday season is upon us once again, and many people are finding themselves in the endless search for present for their friends and families. If you have a motocross rider in your family, their are a number of great gifts which will make them have an even happier Christmas morning. Here are some of my (and a few recommended by readers on Twitter) holiday gift ideas for the motocross rider in your family.
SixSixOne MX-1 Thin Socks
Recommended by @BlueFigToast | $15 | Link
Socks seem like a simple product for motocross racers, but they are essential for a happy racing season. Often overlooked by riders in the midst of racing, training, and practicing, socks can wear out in a matter of weeks. Make your riders season happier in a subtle way by purchasing these socks. The SIxSixOne MX-1 Thin Socks are thick where you need them to be, and thin where to don’t to keep your feet cool during long summer motos.
Scott Voltage ProAir Goggles
Recomended by @jbminn | $65 | Link
Just like socks, goggles are a often overlooked part of ever riders gear bag which can have drastic changes in their performance. Scott Goggles, one of the premier goggle manufacturers in the world has recently come out with a revised edition of their Voltage Goggles. More functional and stylish than ever, these are a great way to make your rider happy for many motos to come.
Core Decals Custom Graphics Kit
Cost Varies | Link
Every rider loves a fresh set of graphics. Go the extra mile for your loved one and hook them up with a custom set from Core Graphics. Not only will they make an old bike look new, but they can provide advertising space for your favorite supporters. They look great and are very durable.
Leatt Adventure Brace
$195 | Link
The ultimate in neck protection is now available at a cheaper price. Don’t let your loved ones ride without this crucial piece of protection. Once obscure, neck protection is now used by the majority of motocross riders, both amateur and professional. I wouldn’t ride without a Leatt brace, and you shouldn’t let your loved ones either.
ARC CP-201 - RC8 Lever/Perch Assembly
$150 | Link
Everyone hates breaking levers. Finally, ARC’s rotation clamp perch and swivel lever prevent your levers from breaking in 99% of everyday crashes. I switched from ASV to ARC levers for this past season, and have loved the shape and durability of the ARC levers.
One Industries Defcon Gear

New gear is a great way to start off a season. Don’t let your loved one ride in ratty gear this season, hook them up with the newest gear on the market. Not only does the One Industries Defcon gear have some of the best looking color schemes on the market, but it is brand new and features numerous technological advancements over standard gear.
Asterik Cell Knee Braces
Recomended by @skadamo | $600 | Link
Knee protection is second only to head and neck protection, in my opinion. Standard knee cups due little to actual protect your knees in a serious crash. More advanced protection such as the Asterisk Cell Knee braces greatly improves knee protection and stability. If you have any form of knee troubles or are looking to prevent future knee problems, these would be a great addition to your gear bag.
Gaerne SG-12
$550 | Link

I can honestly say that my Gaerne SG-10 boots are the best I’ve ever owned. Gaerne’s newest model, the SG-12 is even better. They are a little pricey, but if you really want to treat your favorite motocross rider, set them up with the ultimate in motocross footwear. Not only are they comfortable and protective, but the color options look absolutely great.
2009 Kawasaki KX450F
$7550 | Link
Really love the motocross rider on your list? Then make sure that their holiday season is the best it can be with the 2009 Kawasaki KX450F. Fuel injection makes this one of the most technologically advanced bikes on the market, not to mention the great suspension and awesome design. The KX450F will be sure to keep you at the top of the podium for seasons to come.
